eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, encrypted wifi network used by universities worldwide.
It's available in teaching spaces, study areas, and most public areas across campus, but not in student accommodation.
We recommend using the geteduroam app — it’s the quickest and easiest way to connect.

Essex Guest is a free wifi service for visitors who don’t have an Essex or eduroam account.
How to connect:
If you’re here longer than a day and can’t use eduroam, you can re‑register for another 24 hours when your access expires.
