Biography

Gemma has been an Occupational Therapist since 1999. After qualifying from Canterbury Christ Church University College, Gemma worked within various mental health settings, gaining experience working across a wide range of settings including forensic, P.I.C.U, acute, long-term rehabilitation, community work and child and adolescent services. She also has additional experience of working within a Neurological setting, with adults, children and adolescents, experiencing fatigue and chronic pain. More recently Gemma worked with schools, local authorities and within private clinic settings with children and young people, with diagnoses of Autism, ADHD, and dyspraxia. Gemma has experience of setting up new services, working independently for a variety organisations and working within multi-disciplinary teams. She has acquired certification from Cardiff University through her expert witness role for educational tribunal, and holds an MSc in Sensory Integration though Ulster University. Gemma joined the university as a lecturer in Occupational Therapy in July 2023, and teaches on a range on modules across the three Occupational Therapy programmes at the ºÚÁÏÍø.
